My original blog after it has been cleaned up a bit. Not that this groundbreaking work, but I found some old posts, photos and clips that I may reuse.

19-13 = Norse Lead

Outstanding effort on behalf of the Monsters of the Midway, they won with the big D. Mr. Tillman, left, you are very back in top form. And it looks like Mooch will have to do just that to get hometown Super Bowl tickets. Oh yeah, other great news , the pack is 1-6.

Ahh! Attack of the droll Senator

Well, Sen. Bayh finally sold his soul. First it was his attacks on Chief Justice Roberts, what a great ring to it; now his daring and risque laced speech in New Hampshire:

"I'd like to begin this evening by sharing some good news with all of you," Bayh
said, revving up the hard-core, sellout crowd. "In just about three years, the
Bush era will be over. Done. Finished."

Dare to take a risk, Senator. Technically yes, and hopefully a new Republican will take our country to a new and further the improved level we are on. I care little for the remarks of American-bashing euros, jealous, or the fearful left, hateful at best.

Bayh criticized the Bush administration for "needless division, misplaced
priorities and ineptitude"

And senator bayh shows the class from which our future leader should show.-- somewhat stronger language than he's been using lately, even in all-Democratic settings.

"President Bush sought our nation's highest office pledging to be a uniter, not
a divider, and has proceeded to divide this country more profoundly than any
time since the Vietnam War," Bayh said, eliciting long applause.

Only because a very bitter democratic party has yet to admit it dropped the ball in 2000 & 04. Before you give the conspiracy laced rhetoric of Ohio and Florida, don't, it just didn't happen.
The point I am getting at is once again the leadership of the democratic party is showing no real leadership because there is no message no signs of solution no signs of making things better.

Look at his themes: from DLC(Democratic Leadership Council)

unity - not when you condemn the man who won a majority of the last vote. You push away the right leaning middle. The uncalled for name calling and disrespect shown by the Democratic leadership reflects on the party.

opportunity - look at the complete success of his 21st Century Scholarship, only 25% actually graduate from college.

real security - try harder, please. What is your defintion, sell missle technology to the Chinese like President Clinton.

accountability - for a party that yet to accept its failures of the past, there is no sign of any real change.
My point is, he is tragically unspectacular. He is a cookie cutter canidate.

Question of Faith

I read the article about the three Christian girls beheaded. In my readings of history and modern events, I could never figure out how people are willing to kill in the name of God. And it could be Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu or whomever, there is no real reason. The underlining reason always goes back to the financial gain of one over the land or resources the other possess. I challenge anyone to look at any military conflict over the past thousand years, strip away the window dressing they call "holy war" or any conventional at that, and you'll find either side has some form of financial consideration.
Of course, who you believe is the bad guy is another question. Look at the War in Iraq; are we there to colonize the sandbox, no. Did Sadaam Hussian attempt to conquer other countries to improve his oil supplies and become a world power? Yes. I'll leave it there for replies.

Tale of Two Men

I know this is few days late, but it really shows the glaring level of intellect and class of these two men. This is regards to Senators Reid (D) Nev, on left and Frist (R) Ten, on right, on the Miers withdrawl. Nd no, I did not mean to place the pictures in a political sense. What really strikes me is how immature and uneducated Reid apperas. His inflammatory remarks tragiclly shows how low the demos are reaching. It also shows how much trouble the demos are in because if this ther best, its no wonder President Bush owns them. Dr. Frist on the other hand, sounds as educated and as dignified as a leader shoudl be. Okay, the Terry Schivo diagnosis was a huge stretch, but still ...

October 27th, 2005 - WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist
today made the following statement:
“Harriet Miers has asked the President
to withdraw her nomination to the Supreme Court. I respect her decision and
appreciate her service to our country.
“I look forward with anticipation to
the President naming the next nominee quickly.
“We remain ready to fulfill
our duty to provide advice and consent on judicial nominees. And the Supreme
Court still awaits its next justice--a highly qualified nominee who is committed
to upholding the Constitution and who believes in the limited role of a judge to
interpret the law and not legislate from the bench."

Reid on Miers Withdrawal
Thursday, October 27, 2005
Washington, D.C. –
Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid released the following statement on Harriet
Miers’ withdrawal of her nomination to the United States Supreme Court.
“The
radical right wing of the Republican Party killed the Harriet Miers nomination.
Apparently, Ms. Miers did not satisfy those who want to pack the Supreme Court
with rigid ideologues.
“I had recommended that the President consider
nominating Ms. Miers because I was impressed with her record of achievement as
the managing partner of a major Texas law firm and the first woman president of
the Texas Bar Association. In those roles she was a strong supporter of law firm
diversity policies and a leader in promoting legal services for the poor. But
these credentials are not good enough for the right wing: they want a nominee
with a proven record of supporting their skewed goals.
“In choosing a
replacement for Ms. Miers, President Bush should not reward the bad behavior of
his right wing base. He should reject the demands of a few extremists and choose
a justice who will protect the constitutional rights of all Americans.”

PETA Murders Innocent Animals

PETA workers face 25 felony counts in North Carolina
By DARREN FREEMAN, The Virginian-Pilot © October 15, 2005 Last updated 11:24 PM Oct. 14
WINTON, N.C. — The cats and dogs two PETA employees have been charged with euthanizing and dumping in an Ahoskie garbage bin were killed by injections of pentobarbital, a barbiturate commonly used to put down animals, according to new warrants issued and served on Friday.
Additionally, the two employees were charged with three felony counts of obtaining property by false pretenses. The charges allege that they euthanized three cats from an Ahoskie veterinarian after promising to find the animals new homes, according to the new warrants.
PETA employees Andrew B. Cook, 24, of Virginia Beach, and Adria J. Hinkle, 27, of Norfolk, were served with warrants on 22 felony charges of animal cruelty and the three felony charges of obtaining property by false pretense in court on Friday.
A grand jury is expected to consider formal indictments Oct. 31, Assistant District Attorney Donnie Taylor said.

The new warrants now include more information, such as descriptions of animals investigators found, the causes of death and – in some warrants – photographs of the dead dogs.
The new information was added to clarify the charges, which previously did not have such information as the cause of death, Taylor said.
The two employees are still charged with eight misdemeanor counts of illegal disposal of dead animals and one count of trespassing.
Both have been released on $35,000 bail, and PETA is paying their legal fees. PETA suspended Hinkle for 90 days and did not discipline Cook.
Police began investigating this summer after carcasses of cats and dogs in plastic bags were found in a supermarket garbage bin in Ahoskie every Wednesday for four consecutive weeks. At least 80 animals were found.
Officers say that on June 15 they followed a van after it left Bertie County’s animal shelter, then staked out the garbage bins and arrested two PETA employees.
The officers found 18 dead dogs in a bin and 13 other animal carcasses in the van, which was registered to PETA.
PETA had been picking up animals in northeastern North Carolina since 2001, when a caller informed the group of poor conditions in shelters, according to a written apology PETA President Ingrid Newkirk sent to Bertie County officials.
Bertie County and Northampton County officials and one Ahoskie veterinarian said they believed that adoptable animals would find new homes, while sick, injured and wild animals would be euthanized.
Newkirk has since said that dumping the animals into trash bins violates PETA policy.
PETA typically euthanizes animals in Norfolk and cremates the carcasses, Newkirk said in a June 17 press conference.
Newkirk said at the time that the animals found in North Carolina had likely been given a lethal injection of a barbiturate that PETA is licensed to use.
Bertie and Northampton officials cut ties to PETA pending trial.
The counties are now euthanizing animals without help from PETA.

Missed the Brothers

Whenever I return to Ball State for Homecoming, a quote goes through my head, "a thousand memories I just do not remember." I could make a feeble attempt to entertain you with my misdeeds, but I don't think this blog has the space.
In a nutshell, responsibility was my nemisis. So when I had bases covered to go back to get my "fix," it didn't happen. My daughters were sick and I of course chose to stay home watch them. Well hell, there's always next year.

Romo tells '60 Minutes' he used steroids
Associated Press
NEW YORK -- Bill Romanowski used steroids and human growth hormone supplied by Victor Conte, the former NFL linebacker tells CBS' "60 Minutes" in an interview to be broadcast Sunday.
Romanowski
Romanowski said he took illegal steroids for a two-year period starting in 2001 and got them from Conte, the former head of the Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative, which has been at the center of a steroids controversy in several sports.
"I took [human growth hormone] for a brief period and ... I definitely didn't receive what I got out of THG," Romanowski said, referring to another drug he got from Conte.
In November 2003, the NFL notified Romanowski that he tested positive for the steroid THG.
Romanowski played linebacker for the San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles, Denver Broncos and Oakland Raiders in a 16-year career that ended in 2003.
Last May, he agreed to pay former Raiders teammate Marcus Williams $415,000 in damages for a hit to the face during a practice drill in 2003. Williams' career ended after his eye socket was broken.
Romanowski played for the Raiders during their 2002 Super Bowl season.
He writes about his NFL career in a soon-to-be-released book, "Romo, My Life on the Edge."

Hardcore

Being a child of the 80s, I remember the Smurfs. UNICEF sacrificing them to gain awareness of the atrocities of Africa is a quality move. Europe ignored the genocide by Slobo and Clinton let Rwanada become a butcher's market. But we are again allowing these crimes to repeat themselves in the Congo and Sudan.

any takers on betting Bush created the earthquake to get bin laden

Random Thoughts

  • I am deeply torn, happy the Sox for reaching the ALCS, but again, they are dirty southsiders.
  • Republicans attacking Miers; listen children, I know you been suckered punched by Souter and Kennedy, but you have to put your pride aside and really look at the big picture. Quit being short-sided demos and think about, he knows her, he trusts her, and she may be the real deal. Did you elect Bush to become a fiscal conservative, yes, is he? No! Lest you forget, he inherited a recession. That means Clinton's economy was tanking as he was moving out of 1600. He has rebuilt it. He was in command as we suffered the worst attack on our soil. He took them out. The Bush Doctrine in the Middle East may take several years and we have made enemies ... no we are flushing them out. In the end, when the dust settles, we will look back and shudder at what could have been if we were not there in the sandbox.
  • Peanut has got to regain the form that used to shut Moss down.
  • congrats to Joe Pa for the outstanding win against OSU.
  • global warming and hurricanes are not solely caused by Bush's departure from Kyoto ... if I recall, in the 70s, we were supposed to prepare for the next Ice Age.
  • if I were a democrat, I have integrity thus I am not, I would be pissed at my party. They offer no message, outside of Bush = evil, and no real leadership. They are even hesitant to put hillary for the president. Need to get it together, or better yet, stay the course.
  • lasty, I love this one. If bill and hillary's marriage were anymore of a convience, they would be a slurpee macine in the bedroom.
