Obob's World: The First Love Child

My original blog after it has been cleaned up a bit. Not that this groundbreaking work, but I found some old posts, photos and clips that I may reuse.

GOP hope via Rove

Before you count the legendary Rove out, he brought some very interesting statistics to the table after Tuesday's "thumpin'"
Rove is famous for his political statistics, and his team has come up with an array of figures to contend that the Republicans' loss of 29 seats in the House and six in the Senate is not so out of whack with the historic norms. In all sixth year midterms, the President's party has lost an average of 29 House seats and 3 Senate seats, according to these figures. In all sixth-year midterms since World War II, the loss was an average of 31 House and 6 Senate seats. And in all wartime midterms since 1860, the average loss was 32 House and 5 Senate seat.

and
the party has calculated that the winner received 51 percent or less in 35 contests, and that 23 races were decided by two percentage points or fewer, 18 races were decided by fewer than 5,000 votes, 15 races were decided by fewer than 4,000 votes, 10 races were decided by fewer than 3,000 votes, eight were decided by fewer than 2,000 votes and five races were decided by fewer than 1,000 votes.

Hill won by a couple in Indiana's 9th while Carson by a few thousand in the 7th. Look at Webb beating Allen. So my little elephants, if you want it, you gotta earn it. And give the Democrats enough slack, let the hard Left think this is their Congress and Senate. Entitlement is not only a theme of the Democrats, it is their undoing. (This is the part where I give my sinister laugh as I roast children on an open fire. I got the recipe Karl Rove himself.)

Another Drudge Gem

I watched this and it makes you believe in Hollywood again:
The DRUDGE REPORT has obtained an exclusive copy of a "scary" campaign advertisement created by Hollywood producer and director David Zucker that was intended to be used by GOP organizations in the closing weeks of the 2006 campaign.

However, the advertisement was deemed "too hot" by GOP strategists all across Washington, DC who have refused to use it!

How about this do describe the bar

Mickey's Irish Pub from intakeweekly.com
Overall: Mickey's is the mullet of pubs: All business in the front with its classic wood-and-brass bar area, and all party in the back's super-spacious annex

How about this description of a bar? Funny part it's true. If you're ever on the northside of Indy, my-in-laws own this place and I've worked there off and on since 92, go there. The food is good, the staff is friendly(can be rude if the girls are pissed for some reason) and the regulars oustanding. In the era of strip malls and subdivisions, it's as close to a neighborhood bar as you can get.

What Men Want

The first is Jennifer Love Hewit laying on Soldier Field. This is your typical sex-bomb. Not gonna fib, she ain't hard on the eyes. Plus she is laying on the turf of the Mecca of football. I must make my hajj.

This is Dr. Libby Haight O'Connell, she is the Chief Historian for the History Channel. If you have watched any of the brilliant special on the American Revolution she has brought the words "sexy" and "smart" to a level not seen recent memory.
Before certain forces, forbin or shew, can get this to my wife, let me say this. I am blessed to be married to a woman whose eyes and smile create a perfect beauty not seen since da Vinci was working and breathing. I still lose my train of thought when I see her everyday, thus she thinks I cannot not multitask. It's not that, my virtual memory gets chewed and nothing else processes. She is a damn good nurse with a sharp wit and savvy business sense, I am out of my league to be with her. Plus she is loving mother of three children destined for something for the ages.

Map of SW Asia

One of my favorite websites is RealClearPolitics.com. A collection of various op-eds, news items and assorted wonk prizes. I read an article from the ArmedForcesJournal.com on Middle East borders.
As we know, the Euros carved up and created the national borders of the Mid East and Africa, love Rwanda. Whether they were drunk, bored or self amused, we are paying the price today along with the current residents. The article creates new borders with brillant and short descriptions why. I really recommend you read this and learn a little.

Blood borders
How a better Middle East would look
By Ralph Peters
International borders are never completely just. But the degree of injustice they inflict upon those whom frontiers force together or separate makes an enormous difference — often the difference between freedom and oppression, tolerance and atrocity, the rule of law and terrorism, or even peace and war.

The most arbitrary and distorted borders in the world are in Africa and the Middle East. Drawn by self-interested Europeans (who have had sufficient trouble defining their own frontiers), Africa's borders continue to provoke the deaths of millions of local inhabitants. But the unjust borders in the Middle East — to borrow from Churchill — generate more trouble than can be consumed locally.

While the Middle East has far more problems than dysfunctional borders alone — from cultural stagnation through scandalous inequality to deadly religious extremism — the greatest taboo in striving to understand the region's comprehensive failure isn't Islam but the awful-but-sacrosanct international boundaries worshipped by our own diplomats.

and I love this
Correcting borders to reflect the will of the people may be impossible. For now. But given time — and the inevitable attendant bloodshed — new and natural borders will emerge. Babylon has fallen more than once.

somebody won, old school

the grey haired guy won american idol. Life goes on. What bugs the piss outta me is a statement made by ryan seacrest,
More than 63 million votes were cast, “more than any president in the history of our country has received,” Seacrest said.

Correct me if I am wrong, but can't you vote more than once? Reminds me of the old saying in the days of political machines, "Vote early and often!" Heck, my grandfather has been dead for over thirteen years and he probably voted for a daly in the last election again in Chicago. And don't get me wrong, judging by the democratic opposition of the Voter ID Law, they wouldn't mind that in the 06 elections. Sam Giacana did it for JFK in 1960 Chicago.
In 1960 Giancana was involved in talks with Allen W. Dulles, the director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), about the possibility of murdering Fidel Castro. It is claimed that during the 1960 presidential election Giancana used his influence in Illinois to help John F. Kennedy defeat Richard Nixon. The two men, at that time, shared the same girlfriend, Judith Campbell Exner.

That was in the First Ward to help JFK.
